The Haunted Road recently invited us to come and experience their attraction this year. So, we got a sneak peek of what The Haunted Road is like this year and all of the extras. So, if you are interested in knowing what it would be like, I'll go over all of the details.
The Haunted Road is a locally run haunted attraction that is running now until November 6th, and tickets start at $19.99.
We were invited to come to their media night party, and since this is the first time I’ve ever been to The Haunted Road, I was so excited to get to experience this attraction.
The Haunted Road is located on the east side of Orlando about 30-40 minutes from the major attractions in Orlando.
One thing I do want you to know is that the entrance to the attraction is really easy to miss! So, make sure that you’re paying attention to the GPS, and start looking for the entrance once you’ve passed South Tanner road because the entrance itself is not lit up in any way.
Once you do arrive, you’ll show your tickets and waivers to the attendant at the front, and then you’ll be placed in a queue of cars while you wait your turn.
This year, the Haunted Road is a whole new experience that features several different chilling scenes where the ghosts are "flesh-craving, vengeance-driven, beastly ghouls, seeking mortals foolish who are foolish enough to drive down their road."
The speed limit throughout the attraction is 5 miles per hour, and you’ll want to go that slow because the terrain can get rough at times, and some workers will be walking through the attraction attending to things, so you’ll want to be very careful.
There are 5 different scenes to experience on the drive, and as you get to one, you’ll park and witness these haunting scenes unfold before you.
Another thing to know is that the audio for each scene is either heard by tuning into a radio station that is posted on a sign before you get to a scene or pumped out through speakers at the scene. And if you’ll want to make sure that you pay careful attention to these radio stations because if you get a number or two wrong like we did… you may just miss the whole story that goes along with the scene.
And if you are planning on heading to the Haunted road this year, and want to preset the radio stations to make sure you don’t miss one, here are the radio stations and their corresponding scene:
Scene 1: 88.7
Scene 2: N/A - audio provided by scene speakers
Scene 3: N/A - audio provided by scene speakers
Scene 4: 97.7
Scene 5: 99.7
Each scene runs a few minutes long, and the entire drive is roughly about 25 minutes.
If you survive the whole drive through the haunted road, you’re invited to park your car, and walk through the Human Slaughterhouse haunted house…which is an additional walk-through haunted attraction that is included in your ticket.
The Human Slaughterhouse is a gruesome walk through a barn where you’ll find humans on the menu, and the animals are now looking at you to take you to slaughter.
Once you escape the slaughterhouse, you’ll get to experience one final scene up close where you’ll get to meet a few of the gruesome ghouls face to face. So, you’ll want to head over here and check it out.
If you make it out of the slaughterhouse area alive, then you’ll get the chance to enjoy access to the Afterlife Party!
At the Afterlife Party, you’ll find a haunted DJ, Haunt Market with Halloween and other creepy souvenirs, pop-up performances, a couple of food trucks, and themed cocktails for purchase.
I enjoyed the Afterlife Party which I experienced during the media party. They had a great BBQ truck from Brothers n Arms BBQ that is featured here, and it was delicious. I do want to let you know that what you see here is only a sampling that we got to try during media night. Your portion will be much bigger!
We were also able to get a sample from Da Ice Man who was also featured here during media night and serves delicious Italian ice as well as many other frozen treats.
If you want to experience even more from the Haunted Road, this year they are also offering a VIP Ghost Tour experience for an extra $25.99.
On this guided walking tour, you’ll get to explore The Haunted Road’s most infamous serial killers with a spirit guide. We didn’t get to experience this while we were there since the trail was inaccessible, so we'll have to make sure to add it to our list for next year.
If you are thinking of heading to the Haunted Road, here are a few things to keep in mind:
You do pick a time slot when purchasing your tickets online. You'll want to make sure to get to the attraction as close to your allotted time as possible. There isn’t a lot of space near the event, so if you arrive too early, you may get turned away. So, make sure to arrive just a few minutes before your time.
Also, make sure that everyone in your car has signed their waivers ahead of time because they will be looking for those upon check-in.
Also, don’t forget to wear bug spray. You will have to roll your windows down for a couple of the scenes, and if it’s still warm during the night of your visit, you won’t want to be eaten alive.
If you do plan to get out and experience the slaughterhouse, I highly recommend wearing waterproof boots, or shoes that you don’t mind getting a little muddy especially if it rained earlier in the day. It did get pretty muddy on the night of our media party, and I was so glad I wore hiking boots to keep my feet nice and dry.
If you don’t preset your radio stations ahead of time, you’ll want to make sure that you pay close attention to the stations as you head to the next scene so that you don’t miss out on the story while you’re there.
